Additive manufacturing (AM) or 3D printing is a manufacturing method by adding material assisted by computer. This set of manufacturing processes is already very widespread in several industrial sectors for polymeric materials but is gaining popularity for metallic materials. All of this therefore deserves special attention. This training aims to acquire basic knowledge of manufacturing technologies additive, but above all to become more familiar with the selective laser fusion process on a powder bed (metal additive manufacturing).

Metal 3D printing technologies
Goals

The participants will be able to Identify the areas of application of additive manufacturing, gaining basic knowledge of metallic 3D printing and adjusting the printer parameters such as beam offset, layer’s part orientation…

At the end of theorical aspects, participants will have the opportunity to work and practice with a 3D printer.

Target Audience

Mechanical engineers, industrial designers, metal 3D printing operators.

Content

Overview of additive manufacturing technologies, selective laser melting (SLM) process, metal powder characteristics, DfAM principles, industrial applications.

Method

Conceptual instruction with real industry examples and print data analysis.

Application

Design and production of complex, high-precision metal components for aerospace, medical, and tooling industries.
